Dear Mom,
What if, instead of asking God to take away your situation, you asked Him to show you the beauty He sees within it?
I know that can be a difficult prayer to pray, especially when you are tired. There are days when carrying so much on your own feels heavier than you know how to explain. There are lonely nights after the house grows quiet, when the thoughts you managed to hold back all day begin to fill the room. There are moments when you wonder if you are doing enough, being enough, or if anyone even notices everything you carry.
In those moments, what if you simply prayed:
“Lord, help me see what You see. Show me the beauty You are creating in this season.”
As single mothers, it can be easy to focus on everything that still feels broken. We see the circumstances we are praying will change, the needs we cannot immediately meet, and the parts of life we wish looked different.
But what if God is quietly growing something beautiful beneath the surface?
Maybe He is strengthening your faith.
Maybe He is drawing your children closer to Him through the example they see in you.
Maybe He is teaching you to trust Him in ways you never would have learned if life had always been easy.
Maybe the season you have been wishing away is the very season He is using to shape you into the woman He created you to be.
That does not make the difficult days any less difficult. It does not erase the tears, the weariness, or the weight you carry. Faith does not require you to pretend that something does not hurt.
It simply reminds you that your pain is never wasted in God’s hands.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28
God can take the pieces of a season you would never have chosen and use them to create something filled with purpose. Even now, He may be building endurance within you, deepening your compassion, strengthening your home, and planting seeds of faith in your children.
You may not be able to see all of it yet. Much of God’s most beautiful work begins beneath the surface, long before anything changes where we can see it.
So today, before you ask God to change your circumstances, ask Him to open your eyes.
Ask Him to help you notice the strength He has already placed within you. Ask Him to show you the ways He has been caring for your family. Ask Him to reveal the beauty He is creating in this season, even in the places that still feel unfinished.
You are not walking this journey alone. God is with you in the busy days and the quiet nights. He sees every prayer, every sacrifice, and every act of love that no one else notices.
And little by little, even when you cannot see it yet, He is making something beautiful beneath this season.
A prayer for this season
Prayer
Heavenly Father, open my eyes and help me see what You see. When I am tempted to focus only on what is difficult or unfinished, remind me that You are still working. Show me the beauty You are creating beneath the surface. Strengthen my faith, care for my children, and help me trust that nothing placed in Your hands is ever wasted. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
With love,
Manasseh
