A simple homemade loaf

Bread Machine White Bread

A soft, dependable white bread made with simple pantry ingredients and the quiet help of the bread machine. Add everything to the pan, choose your settings, and let the machine do the kneading, rising, and baking.

Method

  1. Add the ingredients to your bread-machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer.
  2. Select the Basic or White Bread cycle and choose a medium crust.
  3. Start the machine. During the first few minutes of kneading, take a quick look at the dough. It should come together into a soft, smooth ball.
  4. If the dough looks very dry and crumbly, add water one teaspoon at a time. If it looks unusually wet and sticky, add flour one tablespoon at a time.
  5. Allow the machine to complete the full cycle.
  6. Carefully remove the warm loaf from the pan and place it on a cooling rack. Let it cool before slicing so the inside can finish setting.

“Sometimes homemaking looks like letting a faithful little machine help put fresh bread on the family table.”
