A Heart2Heart letter

Battle of the Words

Whose words are you believing?

There are so many voices trying to tell us who we are, or aren’t...

The world has its words. Our past has its words. Other people have their words. And if we’re not careful, even our own fears can become a voice we begin to believe.

But then there is the Word of God.

Have you ever found yourself caught in the battle between what the world says about you and what the Word of God says about you?

I know I have.

Single motherhood is already a heavy journey, and sometimes the opinions, labels, and expectations of others can make that weight feel even heavier. Everywhere we look, someone seems to have an opinion about who we are, what we deserve, or what our future should look like. But, Mom, today I want to gently encourage you not to let the voices of this world become louder than the voice of your Heavenly Father.

Instead, seek His Word.

The Bible reminds us that we are forgiven, loved, redeemed, and made new through Christ. Yet the world often tells a different story. It may say that a single mother is disqualified from God’s best, that she has missed her chance, that her children are destined to become another statistic, or that nothing good can come from her life.

But that is not what God says.

Our Father is a God of redemption. He restores what has been broken, gives beauty for ashes, and writes new stories filled with His grace. Through faith in Him, He is able to do far more than we could ever imagine.

Momma, have faith beyond what you can see.

There was a season in my own life when I wondered if my son and I were going to be okay. I felt weary, uncertain, and unsure of what God was doing. During that season, the Lord continually brought me to Isaiah 54:4 through 17. Those verses became an anchor for my heart, and to this day He faithfully brings them back to my remembrance whenever fear tries to take hold again.

If you’re walking through a difficult season, I encourage you to spend time reading those verses slowly. Let them become God’s reminder to your own heart that He has not forgotten you.

As mothers, God has entrusted us with the beautiful responsibility of guarding and guiding our homes and our children. That responsibility can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you’re carrying it alone. But take heart, God never asks us to walk this journey in our own strength. He promises to give us wisdom, grace, and strength for each new day.

You have a choice before you.

You can believe the voices that say, “No man will ever want a single mother.” You can believe the lie that your children are only statistics. You can believe that your mistakes have defined your future.

Or...

You can believe God’s Word.

You can trust that He is able to bring order where there has been chaos, peace where there has been fear, healing where there has been pain, and hope where you thought there was none.

Never forget this, my friend: our Shepherd has never lost one of His sheep.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand.”

John 10:27 and 28

The world may call us foolish for believing and standing on the promises of God. But we know there is power in His Word. First Corinthians 1:18 reminds us that what may seem foolish to the world is the very power of God to those who are being saved.

His Word has power.

So fill your heart with it. Speak it over your home. Pray it over your children. Stand on it when your feelings tell you to give up.

Allow God’s grace to speak louder than your mistakes. If you have wandered, return to Him. If you have fallen, let Him lift you up. If you are weary, let Him strengthen you. He delights in redeeming, restoring, and making all things new.

Mom, I want you to know this: someone is praying for you and your children. More importantly, your Heavenly Father loves you with an everlasting love.

Your story is not over.

God is still writing it.

With love,
Manasseh

Let us pray

Prayer

Father, thank You for every mother reading this letter today. Quiet the voices of fear, shame, and discouragement, and help her hear Your voice above every other. Remind her that she is deeply loved, fully forgiven, and never forgotten. Strengthen her as she leads her home, bless her children, and fill her heart with hope for the future. Help her trust that You are still writing a beautiful story of redemption through her life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
